Johannesburg – The N3 highway northbound remains closed near the Vaaldraai/Vereeniging interchange, as recovery operations are ongoing on the scene following a fiery truck crash on Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the early hours of Thursday, involving two trucks which were headed northbound towards Johannesburg.
The trucks caught alight after crashing and it was not clear if any injuries had been sustained during the crash.
N3 Toll Concession spokesperson Anita Heyl said all northbound lanes towards Johannesburg in the vicinity of the scene remain closed.
She said traffic continued to be diverted at the Vaaldraai/Vereeniging interchange returning to the N3 northbound at the Dasville interchange.
Motorists were reminded to be prepared for traffic congestion and delays, and to continue to approach the area with caution.
The South African National Roads Agency is currently busy with repairs on the N3 between Sanctuary and Link roads which are expected to improve the safety of the road, especially ahead of the festive season.
